Ann Dragovic Obituary

Ann (Kasal) Rubinic Dragovic, 82, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 17, 1942, in Chicago, Ann made her home in Chicago, Park Ridge, Glenview, and Rockford throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Rubinic and the late James Dragovic. A lifelong lover of art and music, Ann studied at The Art Institute of Chicago and later at Harper Community College, where she earned a degree as a Master Floral Designer. While Ann dedicated much of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, she also shared her creativity and warmth through her work with the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce, as a hostess. She also worked as a floral designer, and wedding coordinator. She gave generously of her time to numerous volunteer groups and community fundraisers, including NAT in Rockford. Ann's many interests reflected her vibrant spirit. She loved painting, sewing, opera, theatre, crafting, and singing in chorus groups. In her younger years, she was deeply involved in her children's schools as a member of the PTA. Her greatest passions were music, the arts, and traveling the world-pursuits that brought her joy and inspiration throughout her life. Ann will be remembered for her quick wit, joyful spirit, and beautiful laugh that could fill a room. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Ann with compassion during her journey with Alzheimer's. In her memory, please consider supporting your local theatre, music, and arts communities-causes that brought Ann so much happiness. Ann is survived by her daughters, Ann (Gordon) Larson and Carolyn (Roger) Ekstrom; grandchildren, Gilbert (Michelle) Menez and Derek Ekstrom; great-grandchild, Logan Menez; dear brother-in-law, David Haupin; special nieces, Kristin (Joe) Schmidt and Lauren (Ryan) Wigginton; also, numerous special family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Anna Grcevich (John Crnkovich) and James Kasal, and her sister, JoAnn Haupin. No services will be held for Ann, but her immediate family will have a private celebration of her life. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ann P.
