David Massa Obituary

David "Dave" John Massa, 78, of Rockford, IL passed away suddenly from a short illness and went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2025. David was born December 30, 1946, to Dr. David J. and Ruth Massa. He graduated from St. Peters High School class of 1964 and was the President of his class. He graduated from Ohio State University and was a member of Sigma Chi International Fraternity. He taught high school algebra for a short time. David was the founder of Lords Jewelers in Janesville, Beloit, and Rockford. He was in the jewelry business for 30 years. He was President of Connection, a group of entrepreneurs', a member of The Chamber of Commerce, and an Elk Club Member. During his retirement years, he and his wife would spend the winter months in Fort Myers, FL enjoying family and friends. David enjoyed biking, golfing, boating, and learning the Spanish language. David's faith in God was very evident in the way he lived his life. He had a kind and sweet smile and was a friend to all. He left his family too soon, but his life and influence will always be remembered by everyone who knew him. David and Kathy were married in 1995, at Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park, IL. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed greatly. The family would like to thank St. Ann's and Van Matre Rehab Center for their care and compassion. A special thank you to the home health care, Empower. A special thanks to nurse Paige, Amanda speech therapy, Melissa and Daniel with physical therapy. David would look forward to their visit in helping him to recover from a stroke and heart attack. He always had a cheerful attitude and always tried his best. He was courageous and loving and never complained. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Massa; children, Stephanie (Michael "007") Kurka and Ryan (Jen) Massa; step-children, Angela (Mark) Kneller and Adam (Jen) Wedekind; grandchildren, Cameron, Preston, Cole, Carter, Chase, Caylin, Emily, Kyle, Brady and Nathan; siblings, Mike, Moni, Mary Ann (Nick) and Mark; many nieces and nephews.
