Dennis Tresemer Obituary
Dennis Tresemer, an inspiring spirit, a generous heart, and a loving soul, was born on October 7, 1944, in Rockford, Illinois. Known by many endearing nicknames including Denny, Trez, Ol' Blue Eyes, and Dennis T., he enjoyed a life that was spirited and vibrant. His journey on this planet - filled with love, resilience, and a determined dedication to service - ended peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on March 13, 2025. He went out of this world with his boots on.
After high school, four proud years in the U.S. Army. Dennis served as a Detective for the Rockford Police Department where his dedication and love for his community were on full display. His career was marked by a series of commendable achievements, including recognition for his work with abused and neglected children. Outside his professional life, Dennis was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he maintained his sobriety for an incredible 38 years. Dennis's love for life didn't stop at his work. He was an avid motorcycle rider, an enthusiastic RV and pontoon boat owner, and a passionate horse trainer. His love for his Haflingers was a sight to behold, as was his joy in zipping around town on his scooter.
Dennis's belief in a Higher Power was a cornerstone of his life. His faith was evident in his involvement in AA and his attendance at various Christian churches. He lived his faith daily, treating all people with dignity and respect, echoing the verse from the Book of Matthew, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." His generosity of spirit extended to his definition of family, which he believed encompassed more than just those related by blood. His heart was a home for many, and he loved big and gave all he had, especially to his beloved wife, Kathleen, to whom he was married for 33 wonderful years.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathleen Tresemer; his brothers Gary (Barb) and Steve (Julie) Tresemer; his sons, Roger Tresemer, Erich Tresemer, and Joe (Laura) Lanza; his granddaughter Kaitlyn, grandsons Jackson and River, and great-grandson Dawson. And Classy, his beloved Halflinger mare. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Leona Tresemer.
