James Cram Obituary

James Michael "Mike" Cram, 78, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and warmth. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Elsie and Bud Cram, Mike spent most of his life in Rockford, Illinois. He dedicated 30 years of service to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, ultimately earning the rank of Captain. Mike had a lifelong passion for cars, with a special fondness for Corvettes. Among his favorites was his 1992 Corvette ZR-1, a car that brought him countless joyful moments. He was a free spirit, known for his fun-loving nature and his zeal for life, and he even spent time as a disc jockey in his younger years, spreading music and laughter wherever he went. In his later years, Mike found a deeper appreciation for the importance of family and made efforts to reconnect and find peace. He also found solace and comfort in his faith, making his peace with God. He is survived by his loving son, Michael Lewis Cram; and three grandchildren, Emma, Noah, and Dakota. Mike will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his humor, and his love of life. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. Yesterday

I was a neighbor and classmate of Mike. We talked on the phone. Last time he was ecstatic that his son was visiting him that weekend. He had stated that he watched the video of his granddaughter numerous times. We (his classmates) invited him every month for lunch in Freeport but he never came. He did come to most of our class reunions. I am sorry that I didn't h visit him at his home in Roscoe. I would like to meet his son.
