Jon Lozzio Obituary

Jon W. Lozzio, 82, of Rockford passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, October 16, 2025. While he was under Hospice care he was surrounded by the love of family and many friends. Unfortunately, he declined so fast he missed seeing some of his special friends. Jon was born in 1943 in Rockford, IL, the son of Alfred and Libbie (Wells) Lozzio. He was a machinist/set-up man at Atwood Corporation, Carter Corporation, Modern Metal, and Ingersoll Cutting Tool Company. Jon and his brother David were in business together for several years, "Tilemasters". They closed the business in 1975 due to the recession. Jon married Suzanne Kuhlow on February 14, 1976, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling and road trips to Wisconsin. Jon and Suzanne have wonderful memories of the times spent with dear friends they made throughout the years. Jon loved his family and all the many special memories they had together. Jon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. His many hunting trips included caribou and bear hunts with his buddy Larry and Larry's son Brian. Jon was especially proud of the North American Pope and Young Club Big Game Record he received on May 27, 1998, for the record breaking black bear he shot on his bowhunting trip to Red Lake, Ontario with his buddy Gary. Among his favorite times were his annual hunting trips to Michigan with his buddies Dan, Larry, and Jim....all were special memories. Jon was a member of the Lombardi Club, Moose Club, and a lifetime member of the Verdi Club. He was a charter member of the Plug and Pellet where he received many trophies in the archery competitions. Several special friendships/memories were made. Jon was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; daughters, Kathy (Gene) Rosenbeck, Connie (Ray) Schauer; sons, Michael (Hope) Lozzio, Anthony (Heather) Lozzio; sister, Theadora (Richard) Yates; brother, Bruce Lozzio; and sister-in-law, Sheila Lozzio. Jon was blessed with 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; brother, David Lozzlo; son-in-law, Terry Martin; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. 1st St., Rockford IL 61107, with a memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jon W. Lozzio, please visit our floral store.
