ROCKFORD – Kathie Marie Hammonds, age 72, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Sunday, October 19, 2025. Born in Rockford on May 13, 1953 to Edgar Matthew & Marie Frances Kelly (Larosa). Kathie loved her family to the core, she truly cherished spending time with her grand-babies, spoiling them any chance she could. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends for the holidays, feeding her squirrels in the backyard and the countless hours of Yahtzee with her sisters. Beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister and dear friend; she will remain forever in our hearts. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Edward Grover Hammonds; children, Kelly D. Hammonds and Edward Grover Hammonds Jr.; grandchildren, Edward Grover Hammonds III, Zorie Ann McNamara and Zander Theodore McNamara; siblings, Ron Kelly, Tom Kelly and Vickie Kolthoff; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friend; Yolanda Combs; and beloved dog, Bear. She is predeceased by sister, Deena Phillips; brother, Bill Kelly; and her parents. Services are Private. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
