Mary Anne Stein

Mary Ann Stein, 97 passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Bethany Health Care and Rehabilitation in DeKalb, Illinois. Mary was born on November 27, 1927 to George and Sarah (Gould) Pickreign in Mountain, WI. On October 20, 1945, she married Gorman W. Stein in Wabeno, WI. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1972. Mary loved her church and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. She was known to write everything down and enjoyed reading western and romance novels. She loved her family, singing and listening to music, traveling, dancing, and going to the Hub City Senior Center. Mary is survived by three sons: Henry of White, GA, Bruce (Diane) of Selmer, TN and Paul of Rochelle, IL; four daughters: Catherine Howle of Rochelle, IL Veronica (Jim) Woodstrom of Forreston, MN, Dolores Poole of Lampe, MO and Debbra (Todd) Doubler of Rochelle, IL; 14 grandchildren: April, Gary, Linda, Jeremy, Jason, Tina, Dale, Amanda, Ashley, Bonnie, Stacey, Miranda, Alaena and Wyatt; 36 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren with two more on the way. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is predeceased by her son, Patrick on July 18, 2022; four brothers: Louis, Henry, Roy and Herbert Pickreign; four sisters: Eunice Elke, Ida Pickreign, Lela Range and Drussella Mueller; two grandsons: Joe Schlosser and Erik Stein and great grandson, Richard "Richie" Lee Tabor, Jr. The visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday with Pastor Michael Wolff officiating. Burial is at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
