Michael Parrott Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael W. Parrott Sr., who left this world on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 12:55 p.m. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Michael was born to the late Marion J. Barlow/Parrott and James M. Parrott, who survives him. He grew up alongside his two sisters, the late Pamela Mittlesteadt and his surviving sister, Marcia Parrott. For over 40 years, Michael was a devoted and loving husband to Barbara A. Parrott. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Michael W. Parrott Jr. and Jacob R. Parrott, who will continue to carry his legacy forward. Michael was also a proud grandfather to Blake R. Parrott and Benjamin J. Parrott, who brought immense joy to his life. Michael's career was defined by his passion for education and leadership. He began as a dedicated Physical Education teacher before moving into administration, where he served as a Principal and later as Superintendent of Pecatonica Schools. His commitment to education shaped the lives of many students, colleagues, and families. In the second half of his career, Michael transitioned into the corporate world, working at Miller and Buettner and then later as an Area Vice President at Arthur J. Gallagher for over 20 combined years. Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was known for his generous spirit and selflessness-always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a loyal friend, a respected colleague, and a man who believed in the power of kindness. In his free time, he found joy on the golf course, where he formed lasting friendships and enjoyed the game he loved. Michael's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His unwavering dedication to family, his passion for education, and his ability to make those around him feel valued and supported will never be forgotten. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at a later date with additional details to be provided in the time leading up to the event. Though he may be gone, his love and impact will forever remain in our hearts. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Michael W. Parrott, please visit our floral store.

I am so saddened to hear of Mike´s passing! I really appreciated his leadership as my principal and superintendent. He was always fair in my dealings with him and I enjoyed his sense of humor and friendly smile. I am disappointed that I am just finding out about his passing. I would´ve been present for his services.

Mike I appreciate all of your support and help in my development as a young educator!

My deepest condolences to the family. Mike and I attended West High School together and competed on the basketball court. We also crossed paths in the education field. He was an amazing educator and a great guy.
