Richard W. Caudle

Richard "Dick" Caudle, 81, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on April 28, 2025. Born in Oakland, CA on October 16, 1943, to his parents, Robert and Alice (Yates) Caudle. Dick proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after 5 years of his brave service. Dick married the love of his life, Aleda House, on June 13, 1970, and they spent 54 beautiful years together. Dick worked at Northern Mechanical doing HVAC and retired when he was 62. Dick was a man of many passions whose hands were rarely still and whose heart was always generous. A devoted model railroading enthusiast, he was an active member of the Northern Illinois Steam Club and volunteered his time at Midway Village Museum, where he shared his love of history and mechanics with visitors and fellow hobbyists alike. Dick also had a lifelong love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who not only enjoyed casting a line but even built his very own fishing boat-a testament to his skill, patience, and creativity. He followed NASCAR with enthusiasm, always cheering on his favorite drivers with the same energy he brought to every aspect of his life. Dick's kindness, curiosity, and commitment to his interests left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Dick is survived by his devoted wife, Aleda Caudle; children, Melissa (Efren) Vasquez and Matt (Barb) Caudle; grandchildren, Stephanie (Aaron), Brian (Kelcey), Noah, Elizabeth and Nico; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Sam, Elijah, Lexi, Addie, Alissa and Stetson. The family would like to specially thank Serenity Hospice and Terri and Randy Popp. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Local 23 Union Hall, 4525 Boeing Dr., Rockford, IL, 61109, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
