Betty Garrison Obituary
Betty Joan Garrison, 79, of Spencer, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 7, 2025, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at home on October 29, 1945, in North Vernon. Betty was the cherished daughter of John and Mabel (Oliver) Patton. She was one of ten children, and from an early age, her caring and nurturing spirit shone brightly, a quality that would define her life.
Betty married her soulmate, Kenneth Garrison, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Early in their marriage, Betty and Ken earned their real estate licenses, embarking on a new adventure side by side. Later, Betty found her true calling as a homemaker, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and creating a warm, welcoming home.
Family was always at the heart of Betty's world. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially during cherished "Nan & Pop" moments.
A woman of many talents, Betty enjoyed quilting, reading, and quiet afternoons with a good book. She loved the simple pleasures, drinking tea, crafting beautiful quilts, and taking trips to the shore. Her gentle, giving nature touched everyone she met.
Betty was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Garrison; her children, Phillip (Cynthia) Garrison, April (Nathan) Abram, and Thomas (Heather) Garrison; her grandchildren, Chelsea (Stephen) Moss, Zach (Sarah) Abram, Allyssa (Jonathan Morgan) Garrison, Austyn (Cassidi) Garrison, Auytum Garrison, Wesley Garrison, and Emma Garrison; and her great-grandchildren, Avia Wiley, Auna Lou Wiley, Izabell, Iris, Isaac, Teagan, Ivory, Lucas, Klayton, Onyx, Warren, and one sweet baby on the way. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Norma Freeman, Patsy Stewart, and Wanda Waldon, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Andrew "Andy" Garrison, and several siblings.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date, with family and friends gathering on the family farm to honor her memory.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to IU Health Hospice House in gratitude for their exceptional care, love, and support during Betty's final days.
