John Sherfield Obituary

John C. Sherfield, 92, of Solsberry, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 17, 2025, at his residence. John was born on April 7, 1932 in Greene County, Indiana to Lloyd Sherfield and Martha (Porter) Sherfield. He married the love of his life, Doris G. (Glidden) Sherfield on October 14, 1956 in Newark, Indiana. John graduated from Solsberry High School and retired from R.C.A. in Bloomington. He and Doris were lifelong, active members of Solsberry Christian Church. John is survived by son Doug Sherfield; grandchildren, Emily (Eric) McArtor, Erin (Brock) Kelley, Carly Sherfield and Claire Sherfield; great-grandchildren, Connor McArtor, Crew Kelley and many extended family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris, son, Dean Sherfield and siblings, Lester, Grace, Pearl, Mildred, Hilda and Donnie. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Solsberry Christian Church, 10825 East Christian Church Road, Solsberry, Indiana 47459. Pastor Stewart Cobine will officiate. Burial will follow in Newark Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed by the Owen County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, at the church.
