Linda Webster Obituary
Linda F. Webster
January 4, 1950 – October 22, 2025
Linda F. Webster, lovingly known as "Mim" to so many who held her dear, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, surrounded by the people she loved most - her children and several of her grandchildren.
Linda was born on January 4, 1950, to Betty F. Wall. Linda grew up to be a woman whose love for her family was fierce, unwavering, and endless. Her family was her heart and the center of everything she did. She leaves behind her four children: Scott (Tammy Buzzard), Brent (Mara), Bethie Cox (Eric), and Melanie Jackson (Jerimiah).
She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Nathan Nicoson (Billie), Hunter (Anna), Randall (Emily), Tanner (Bailey Bell), Jase Cox (Caledonia Coleman), Lyndlee Cox, Jett Jackson, and Maddox Jackson, along with her great-grandson, little Axel Nicoson, who brought her so much happiness. Linda is also survived by her sister Jinix Maine (Don), brother Stanley Nickle, special friends John Walters, Tracy Webster, and Shaun Evanson, as well as countless other family members and friends who loved her deeply.
She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, soulmate, and best friend, Scott E. Webster; her mother and stepfather, Betty and John Smidley; her brother, Terry Nickel; and her in-laws. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them, likely cooking or baking something delicious and laughing around a kitchen table once again.
Linda had many gifts, but one of her greatest was the way she loved through food. She was a talented baker and cook, the kind who could make an ordinary day feel like a special occasion with just a plate of cookies or a pot of her famous potato soup. For years, she shared her talents as a baker at the local IGA and also made cakes and cookies from home for birthdays, weddings, and countless other celebrations. If you ever visited her, you knew you wouldn't leave hungry. Whether she had something simmering on the stove or decided to whip something up just because you stopped by, she always found a way to make you feel cared for. Cooking and baking weren't just hobbies to her, they were her way of saying, "I love you." Linda also had a special gift for connection. She could talk to anyone, and she did. She made people feel seen and heard, always finding some small thread to tie her heart to theirs. Because of that, so many who knew her, whether family by blood or by love, felt truly special in her presence. Her garden was another expression of her nurturing spirit. Flowers, vegetables, herbs - anything she touched seemed to flourish. She and Scott spent many happy hours tending their garden, canning their harvest, and sharing the fruits of their labor with friends and family. Whether it was green beans, squash, or her incredible homemade salsa, Linda's kitchen was always full of color, flavor, and love. Per her wishes, there will be no formal services, and cremation has been arranged. One of the ways we want to honor and remember her is by sharing a little piece of her with all of you, her beloved potato soup recipe. It's simple, comforting, and pure just like Mim herself.
Mim's Potato Soup
1 stick butter
1 large sweet yellow onion
Garlic to taste
3-4 stalks celery
Yukon gold potatoes (5lbs for our crew)
8 cups chicken stock
3 cups whole milk
8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese
Salt/Pepper to taste
In a large stock pot, melt butter.
Add garlic and chopped onion and celery.
Sauté until onion is translucent.
Add chicken stock and peeled/cubed potatoes and bring to boil.
Once potatoes are fork tender, reduce heat to medium/medium low.
add milk and cream cheese. Stir until dissolved.
(This is easiest if cheese is softened and cut into small pieces)
Season to taste.
Thickening tip - used instant mashed potatoes
Our beloved Mim will forever hold a space in our hearts that no one else can fill. We'll think of her often in the smell of something baking, the sound of laughter around a dinner table, or the sight of a garden in full bloom - and we'll carry her love with us, always.
Honoring Linda's wishes there will be no service. Cremation was chosen. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Frist Funeral Home.
