Marjorie Byrd Obituary

ROCKVILLE – Marjorie E. Byrd, 93, of Rockville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 20, 1932, in Russellville, Indiana, to the late Ira Flaurr and Cleophia Vivian Massey Flaurr. Survivors include two sons, Robert Hutson of Rockville and Larry Smedley of Crawfordsville; four daughters, Rhonda Scowden of Rockville, Cathy Hoke of Crawfordsville, Cindy Byrd of Rockville, and Jennifer (Mike) Stowe of Rockville; one brother, John Flaurr of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Ronald, and Ralph Flaurr; three sisters, Virginia Rector, Mary Lee Zachary, and Joane Allison; her daughter-in-law, Marla Smedley; her son-in-law, Ed Scodwen; and her granddaughter, Tiffany Holt. Marjorie worked at the Indiana State Tuberculosis Sanitarium (later Lee Alan Bryant) near Rockville. She was a member of the Nyesville Full Gospel Church. She loved her grandchildren dearly they were her everything. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 West Howard Street, Rockville with Pastor Gene Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation will be12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday. Online condolences may be shared at www.goochfuneralhome.com.
