Ralph Eugene Fancil

Ralph Eugene Fancil, 79, formerly of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born June 10, 1946, in Robinson, Illinois, to William "Bill" Fancil and Lillian (Hayes) Fancil. A 1964 graduate of Oblong Township High School, Ralph married Sandra Kay Rogers on November 10, 1964. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1984. Ralph served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968 and later owned and operated Fancil Enterprises, providing excavation and backhoe services in the Illinois Basin oil fields. He was a member of VFW Post #4549 in Robinson, the National Rifle Association, and the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Ralph enjoyed working with his horses and bird hunting in his free time. Survivors include his son, Rod (Sharon) Fancil of Potomac, Illinois; grandchildren Courtney Fancil, Chase Fancil, and Chealsi Fiscus; great-grandchildren Elliott and Barrett Fiscus; and sisters Tammy Thompson of Oblong and Pam Goss of Calhoun, Illinois and brother-in-law, Kelly Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; his son, Chad Fancil; brothers Jack, David, and Steven "Mike" Fancil; sisters Judy Shields and Cathy Johnson; and brothers-in-law Mike Thompson and Gary Goss. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, Illinois, with military rites performed prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hankins Cemetery in West Liberty, Smallwood Township, Jasper County, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday, September 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Rockey will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
