Arlene J. (Dry) Reed, 81, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband James C. Reed Sr. They were married for 58 years. Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late John Y. and Verna (Stufflet) Dry. Arlene was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School and completed her LPN Nursing License at Reading Hospital Nursing School. Arlene was employed as a nurse for 30 years. She was an avid boater and gardener. Arlene loved swimming and being at the beach, baking, the many picnics she cooked for her family, and her dogs and animals. Arlene was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Birdsboro.
Arlene is survived by her children; James C. Reed Jr., husband of Donna K. Reed of Lucas, TX, and Karen L. Reed, partner of Jason L. Devlin, of Exeter Township. Also surviving are grandchildren; Kyle, Noelle, and Zachary Reed, as well as her nieces; Linda L. Delp, Jeannette Delp, Char Archer, Judy Ciervo, and her brother-in-law Bill Reed and his wife Liz Reed. Arlene was predeceased by her brothers John J. Dry, and Daniel Dry.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery, 1119 Centre Ave, Reading, PA 19601. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
