Donnie Brown Obituary

Donald "Donnie" Frank Brown April 20, 1954 – October 16, 2025 Mooreville - Donald "Donnie" Frank Brown, 71, of Mooreville, Mississippi, passed away in the early morning hours of October 16th, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi. In that peaceful moment, he rejoined his beloved bride of 39 years, Deborah Brown, whom he dearly missed since her passing in 2018. Donnie was born on April 20, 1954, in Osceola, Arkansas, to Reverend J.B. Brown and Volene Edwards Brown. As a preacher's son, he lived in various towns throughout his early years and graduated from West Morgan High School in Trinity, Alabama in 1972. Though fate first brought Donnie and Deborah together before he returned to Mooreville in 1978, it was upon his return that their love story truly began. They married on August 19th, 1978, and built a beautiful life together, raising two daughters, Alicia and Amanda. In his younger years, Donnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports cars, riding bikes with friends, and listening to music-especially Peter Frampton and Creedence Clearwater Revival. He also loved gospel music, particularly the uplifting harmonies of The Gaithers, which brought him great comfort and joy throughout his life. As he grew older and started a family, Donnie's hobbies shifted to road trips and spending time with the people he loved most. He was known for his goofy sense of humor and his big heart. He loved to make people laugh and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome in his home. His laughter was contagious, and his kindness unforgettable. His home church was Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy, where he attended regularly and enjoyed worship and fellowship with those he loved. He is survived by his daughters, Alicia and her fiancé Corey Bell; Amanda and her husband Kevin Caldwell; and two grandchildren, Clovie Louise and Lonnie Wayne. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Brown (Broza Brown), Doris Hopper, Miriam Brown, and Lynn Brown, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend J.B. and Volene Brown; his brother, Pete Brown; and his wife, Deborah Brown. A memorial service will be held at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18th, followed by his Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. Holland Funeral Directors are honored to serve their friends. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/DonnieBrown Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Paul Green, Randy Bishop, Ronnie Harris, David Thompson, Jonathan White (representing his father, Irron White), and Joshua Green. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sanctuary Hospice House of Tupelo: 5159 West Main St., Tupelo, MS 38803; The Salvation Army Food Pantry: 527 Carnation St., Tupelo, MS 38804; or the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society: P.O. Box 2143, Tupelo, MS 38801--organizations that reflect Donnie's generous heart, compassion for others, and love for animals. Donnie will be remembered for his laughter, his love of family, and the warmth he brought into every life he touched. His presence filled every room, and his memory will continue to do the same.
