Dorothy Leopard Obituary

Dorothy Childers Leopard, age 89, met the promises of her dear Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with those she loved who had gone on before her as she entered into her Heavenly Home on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Tippah County Health and Rehab, surrounded by the love and presence of family and friends.
Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Dorothy's life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton and Bro. Roscoe Watkins officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
Born on January 23, 1936, in Arkansas, Mrs. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Frank and Nettie Ann McGraw Childers. She was educated in the Arkansas Public School System before continuing her studies at Northeast Mississippi Community College. Preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Simon L. Leopard, Mrs. Dorothy and Simon built their home in the Tippah County community, where they raised their family and shared a life filled with faith, hard work, and devotion. She was employed for many years with PEP Corporation before her retirement, but her greatest calling was the love she poured into her home and those blessed to be part of her life.
A Christian woman with a heart for service, Mrs. Dorothy possessed a true gift for caring for others. She was patient and kind, and her gentle nature made everyone feel welcome in her presence. Her door was always open, her kitchen always warm, and there was always a seat waiting at her table for anyone in need of a good meal or good company. She delighted in tending to her many flowers, which she lovingly cared for as if they were part of her family, and she took pride in staying active-always ready to go somewhere, just as long as it was within Tippah County.
To her family, she was the heart of the home-a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished friend. Whether she was babysitting her grandchildren, preparing one of her famous home-cooked meals, or offering a word of encouragement, Mrs. Dorothy lived her life rooted in love, faith, and compassion.
Now, her earthly journey has come to a gentle close, and she rests peacefully in the arms of her Savior. Free from pain and reunited with her beloved Simon and the many loved ones she missed so dearly, she is home at last-where flowers never fade, laughter fills the air and love never ends.
Precious memories will continue to be cherished by two daughters, Brenda Weaver (Johnny), and Nancy Weaver (Tony), one son, Simon Leopard Jr. (Lynn), one sister, Glenda, two brothers, Frank and Harvey, nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, with two on the way, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dorothy was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patti Yancey, one son, Boyd Mullins, one sister, Sue Green, and two grandchildren, Lisa Leopard, and Justin Lynn Winette.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Koon, Eric Weaver, J. J. Weaver, Bryson Weaver, Levi Weaver, and Bubba Leopard, along with Jeffery Weaver, Scotty Weaver, and David Leopard serving as honorary pallbearers.
Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories with Mrs. Dorothy's family.
