Herman Carouthers (Snake) was born February 9, 1951 in Okolona, MS to the late Sammy Lee and Ruth Lucille Price Carouthers. At a young age, he embarked on a lifelong journey of faith, accepting Christ as his savior and joining Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church in Okolona, Mississippi. On October 25, 2025, he transitioned to eternal rest leaving behind a legacy of devotion and love.
Herman was a remarkable 1968 graduate of Fannie Carter High School and he went on to attend Mary Holmes College for a brief period, laying the groundwork for a bright future.
He dedicated 18 years to serving the city of Okolona Public Works, where he ultimately retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
He had a radiant smile that reflected his remarkable personality, allowing him to form effortless connection with everyone he met. He was a magnet for love and admiration, and his presence was a precious gift to all. He had a passion for crafting unforgettable memories with his loved ones. His legacy will deeply be cherished, and his memory will continue to inspire! Herman was better known as (Snake) and to many (The Snake Doctor).
Herman and Pearlene were united in holy matrimony on July 1, 1972. A precious daughter Nicole R Carouthers was born! Herman and Pearlene celebrated 53 years of marriage, a truly beautiful blessing.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife Pearlene Donaldson Carouthers, a daughter Nicole R. Carouthers, grandson Kaleb Graham, and precious great granddaughter Kylie Graham whom he adored deeply.
His memory will also be honored by his sisters-in-law, including Shirley Donaldson Bradford, Barbara R. Carouthers, Emma L. Carouthers, and Margaret Brooks Carouthers, all of Okolona, Mississippi as well as Helen Davis (Eddie), Violet McCullough and Tommy Dale Donaldson from Kansas City, Kansas. Furthermore, his impact will be felt by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will continue to inspire and nurture a thriving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sammy Lee and Ruth Lucille Price Carouthers, who instilled in him a strong foundation, and his parents-in-law, Walker and Laura Mae Lipsey Donaldson, who welcomed him with open arms. His siblings Annie Lee Carruthers Smith, Archie Lee, Willie, Jesse James, and Samuel Lee Carruthers, Jr., who shared in his joys and sorrows. His Uncle Willie James Price, and Aunt Alberta Bean, who offered guidance and support. Several in-laws including Rev. Moses L. Smith, George Bradford, James Donaldson, Sr., Odell Lowe, Walker Donaldson, Jr. Mary Carouthers and JoAnn Carouthers, who enriched his life with their presence.
