Jessie Kimmons Obituary
Jessie Lean Kimmons, 67, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born December 14, 1957, to Vance and Katie Payton Boyd in New Albany, MS.
She was a 1977 graduate of Ingomar Attendance Center, where she ran track and was known as a talented athlete. After high school, Jessie married John Kimmons, Jr., the love of her life whom she had met during her school years. Together, they traveled the world as a military family, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way. After several years of travel, Jessie returned to New Albany, where she worked at Piper before moving on to her main career - one that her relatives fondly remember her for, as it reflected her strong work ethic and loyalty.
Jessie was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She grew up with a strong sense of family and compassion that she carried throughout her life. Jessie was the beloved sister of Vance Boyd Jr., Dwayne Boyd, and Kathy Frazier. She was the proud mother of John Kimmons and Latisha Kimmons, the loving mother-in-law of Aida Kimmons, and the cherished grandmother of LaTyziah Conner, Tylan Conner, Maxie Pounds, Jr., and Mason Pounds, Jr. Jessie loved her grandchildren deeply and found so much joy in watching them grow. Family meant everything to Jessie - she was known for her kindness, her laughter, and her ability to make everyone feel at home. She enjoyed deep conversations with her children and loved sharing moments of laughter and connection.
Her son John shared, "Mom and I talked about everything. I'd always made sure to tell her about the newest horror movie or show, and we'd laugh and share our thoughts like old friends." Her daughter-in-law Aida remembered, "Every time I had a problem, I knew I could count on Mom to always pick up her phone. We would cry and laugh - mostly laugh. We never had a conversation where we didn't laugh." Her granddaughter, Tata lovingly said, "We would watch movies together and talk about a lot of things. She was my rock." Jessie will be remembered for her kindness, warm humor, and the joy she brought to every conversation - often with a Pepsi in hand. Her memory lives on through the family and friends whose lives she touched so deeply.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vance and Katie Boyd.
