Joseph A. "Joe" Munn

Joseph (Joe) Andrew Munn, 62, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, in Tupelo at NMMC Hospice, surrounded by his cherished family, after a two-month bout with liver cancer. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff in the Oncology and Hospice departments for their excellent care. He was born on January 10, 1962, to the late Ulton Hayward Munn and Wilma Dillard Munn in the Longview community in Pontotoc County. He married his lifelong companion, Carol Burleson, on April 9, 1982. A dedicated and long-standing employee of Cooper Tire in Tupelo, now Goodyear, for over 39 years, he was proud to be their second longest tenured employee. He loved football, country music, and spending time with his family, co-workers, and friends. A devoted and selfless husband, father, brother, and friend, he treated every person he knew like family. Through his dedication and commitment to his family he lived the example of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ until the end. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him well.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Ann Munn; three sons, Rickey Munn (Desiree) of Knoxville, TN, David Munn (Jacqueline), active Air Force, of Biloxi, MS, and Christopher Munn (Jessica) of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren Hannah Grace Munn, Annebelle Rose Munn, and Isaiah Allen Munn; three brothers, Edwin Munn (Kathy) of Algoma, Marty Munn (Debbie) of Pontotoc, and Philip Munn of Pontotoc; and his mother-in-law, Joann Burleson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulton Hayward and Wilma Munn, and father-in-law Ben Burleson.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 2 PM with visitation starting at 12 PM at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, officiated by Bro. Randy Gillespie. and Bro. Chuck Patrick. Burial will follow at Longview Baptist Church Cemetery in Pontotoc. Visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 5-8 PM at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc.
Serving as pallbearers will be sons Rickey Munn, David Munn, and Chris Munn; and nephews Ryan Munn, Michael Munn and Joshua Burleson.
