Lisa "Joy" Urrutia

Lisa "Joy" Urrutia, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on September 13, 2025, at her home in Calhoun City, Mississippi. Born on April 24, 1966, in Calhoun City, MS. Joy graduated from Bruce High School, where her vibrant personality began to shine. She was actively involved at Sarepta Baptist Church, a place that provided her with spiritual nourishment and a close-knit community. Joy spent many years as a homemaker and house cleaner, taking pride in her ability to create welcoming spaces for families. Her passion for collecting pottery, particularly McCarty pieces, reflected her artistic appreciation and her love for the beauty found in everyday objects. Joy found immense joy in cooking, often sharing her culinary creations with loved ones. Joy leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Barefield; her sons, William Clinton Grist (Meghan) and Christopher Cody Grist (Elizabeth); her brother, Benny Barefield (Melissa); her sister, Heather Nix (Chris); and her cherished grandchildren, Robyn Flemons, Kaytlynn Sutherland, Hayden Ross, Haley Ross, Gage Black, and Marleigh Edwards. Family will receive friends at Sarepta Baptist Church on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM with a memorial service to celebrate the life of Joy Urrutia to follow with Bro. Vince Anderson officiating. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory and share stories that encapsulate the joy she brought to their lives. Joy was preceded in death by her father Jimmy Earl "Smokey" Barefield. Parker Memorial is honored to be of service to Lisa's family during this time.
