Randy Michael Obituary

Randy Joe Michael (69) of Booneville, MS, entered his heavenly home on September 29, 2025. He was born in Kermit, Texas on April 7, 1956, the son of Lucille Stokes and the late Joe Michael. Randy was married to his beloved wife, Leigh Ann Michael, for forty years. He was the proud father of five daughters and "Gdaddy" to thirteen grandchildren. He was a cherished big brother and a loyal friend to so many. As a proud Booneville High School graduate, he played both baseball and basketball before continuing his basketball career with the NEMCC Tigers. Years later, he returned to school at the University of Mississippi and obtained his education degree. Over the years, he worked as an electrician and business owner, before following his true calling as a high school teacher and basketball coach. For more than 40 years, Randy faithfully served at East Booneville Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He loved hunting and fishing, watching college football, traveling to the beach and Disney World, and cheering on his grandchildren at their ballgames. Most of all, he cherished every moment with his family and friends. Randy will be remembered for his fight, his faith, and his unforgettable smile. Even during his 14-year battle, he trusted God's plan for his life and knew that his help came from the Lord. Though he will be deeply missed every day, we rejoice knowing that he is now where all things are made new - he's with Jesus, and we will see him again one day. Services are 11 am Friday, October 3, 2025 at East Booneville Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, October 2, 2025 at East Booneville Baptist Church. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Leigh Ann Elam Michael of Booneville; his daughters, Ashleigh Flurry (Kevin) of West Point, Sara Beth Howell (Blake) of Booneville, Mallory Martin (Austin) of Baldwyn, Gracie Stephens (Ardis) of Wheeler and Brandi Burcham (Shane) of Jumpertown; his mother, Lucille Stokes of Booneville; his brother, Ronald Michael (Emily) of Oxford; his sisters, Pam Johnson of Booneville, Tenna Herring (Darren) of Guntown and Anne Marie Coats of Wheeler; his father-in-law, Wayne Elam of Ramer, TN; his brother-in-law, Tommy Elam; his beloved grandchildren, Elam, Mary Michael, Emmett, Beckham, Ann-Sutton, Dex, Randy Rhett, Baylor, Everly, Judd, Ila, Parks and Pryce and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Michael; his step-father, Travis Stokes; his mother-in-law, Pat Elam and his brother-in-law, Jason Elam. Pallbearers are Dennis Smith, David Prichard, Ken Goodwin, Bill Spain and Bill Ward, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Johnson, Jacky Rowsey, Harold Cooksey, Jeff Wright, Hal Clark, Nelson Hight and Steve Eaton.
