Shirley Jean Weeks

Shirley Weeks, age 90, of Sulligent, AL, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Generations of Vernon in Vernon, AL. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 3:00pm at Sulligent First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Chaffin and Bro. Steven Sanderson to officiate. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral services from 2:00pm until 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sulligent First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 217, Sulligent, AL 35586 or to The Weeks Family Scholarship at Sulligent High School, P.O. Box 909, Sulligent, AL 35586.

Shirley was born on August 28, 1935 in Sulligent, AL to the late James Claude Stokes, Sr. and the late Nell Maddox Stokes. She was a 1953 graduate of Sulligent High School and later attended Florence State Teachers College. Shirley previously worked for many years at the Lamar County Health Department as a Registrar of Vital Statistics upon retiring in 1988. She was very involved in serving her community by teaching piano lessons, sewing for the public, substitute teaching at Sulligent schools, and was EFNEP at County Extension Office. Shirley loved her family dearly and her giving spirit and kind heart will always be cherished and greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. She was a member of Sulligent First Baptist Church in Sulligent, AL.
