Susan Bain Obituary
Susan Michelle Dowdy Bain, 51, was called to eternal rest on October 15, 2025, following a motor vehicle accident. She was born on January 14, 1974, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Susan's early life in Tupelo laid the foundation for her enduring spirit and commitment to education. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to achieve a Master's in Education, a testament to her belief in lifelong learning and growth. Susan's career at Trustmark Bank, where she served as Head Teller, was marked by dedication and excellence. Her professionalism was mirrored by a warm demeanor that made everyone feel welcomed and valued.
Known in the community as the "Goat Lady," Susan not only raised and showed goats but also instilled in others an appreciation for these gentle animals. This passion was but one facet of her diverse interests. An avid reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of her books. Crocheting allowed Susan to weave threads of love into tangible keepsakes for those she cherished.
Susan's outgoing personality meant she never met a stranger. Her capacity to forge instant connections was unparalleled, opening her life to a multitude of friendships that lasted a lifetime. But it was her deep love for her family that shone brightest. Susan's devotion to her husband, Chris Bain, her daughter, Sarah Yvonne Bain Sullivan, her adored grandson, Lincoln Blake Sullivan, and her beloved mother, Bobbie Ann Buchanan Dowdy, was unwavering. Together they shared an abundance of joyous moments, creating memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles.
Though predeceased by her father, Floyd Dowdy, Jr., the legacy of kindness and strength they shared continues in the family Susan so treasured.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at the funeral home with Bro. Bobby Butler officiating. Burial will be at Candy Hill Cemeteyr.
Pallbearers will be Keith Wright, Ricky Miles, Matthew Hill, Andrew Sullivan, Nick Almond and Brett McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hutcheson, Wayne Stanton and Austin Sullivan.
