Bernard Scott Sigman

BERNARD SCOTT SIGMAN, 91, of Cowen went home to be with the Lord and his loving wife, Ada on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Born August 29, 1934 in Webster County, he was the only son of the late Murray and Opal (Boggs) Sigman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada (Dillon) Sigman and his sister, Anne Marie Snyder.
Bernard started his career as a coal miner; but being an avid outdoorsman, he eventually opened Ada's Sport Shop with his wife. His love of camping, fishing, hunting, and especially talking, gave him the knowledge to effectively assist locals, campers, and tourists, alike. Even when campers would come in to the county and didn't need anything from the store, they would stop in for a story. He took great pride in caring for his lawn and garden. He would grow everything in his garden and loved to can his harvest and eat on it all winter. And, as far as eating, he would be sure the whole family was fed throughout the year; he enjoyed cooking Chicken and Dumplins, Walleye, Venison, Squirrel Gravy, and he had a very special iron skillet that he used for his bread. He loved his family beyond words and was proud of them and the life that he and Ada were able to provide for them. Above all, he was proud to be a Christian.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: David (wife, Patsy) Sigman, and Sherrie (husband, Dale) Plymale; grandchildren: Jenny Plymale, Stacy Plymale, and Sarah (husband, Shawn) Selman; and one great-grandson, Daniel Selman; special niece, Kathy Black-Thies (husband, Larry) and their daughter, Jessica; brother-in-law, Clint Snyder; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Graveside services to celebrate Bernard's life will be held 12 Noon, on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.
