Anthony Dovel Obituary
He is survived by his nephews, John Synder of Decatur, GA, and David Synder of Charleston, WV, the Gregg family of Charleston, WV, and Zimmerman family of Daytona Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Lillian, Father, Floyd, and his sister, Diane.
Ash was born and raised in Charleston WV where he and his family owned and operated Charleston Cut Flower Co. Ash's love for animals, especially his golden retrievers, was a cherished part of his everyday life. Ash was a true enthusiast. He had a deep appreciation for classic vehicles, most notably his restoration of a 1954 GM Scenicruiser an effort that preserved a piece of American history. Ash explored the world. Some of his favorite destinations included Japan, Amsterdam, London, and the Caribbean Islands. His love of flying was as much about the journey as it was about the destination.
He has been a proud member of the Halifax Yacht Club since 2000, recently marking 25 years of membership.
He leaves behind a life story filled with laughter, music, and a generous spirit. Ash gave kindness freely, never asking for anything in return. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Ash's life will be held on May 9, 2025, at 1 - 3 p.m., at the Halifax Yacht Club in Daytona Beach, FL.

We have many wonderful memories of Uncle Ashton. My mother, Diane, loved her brother very much and, along with the rest of us, she was always so excited every time he came to town.
For many years he came to Charleston for Christmas and meet us all at the beach in NC in the summer. He was always so kind to our kids, bringing a float for them to play on in the ocean every year and they adored him! He was always positive and smiling and fun to be with.
He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Uncle Ashton and give Mom a hug from us.

This is a special memory about Uncle Ashton.
I remember when we were kids, every year we would go to the beach with all the family. Uncle Ashton started bringing a float every year for us kids to play on in the ocean. It would usually get destroyed within a day or two between the ocean waves and the crazy games we would play. So he started a mission of trying to find a raft that would last the whole week. He found stronger and stronger ones each year that would last 2-4 days, until he finally found a "fun island" float that was huge and lasted the whole week. We enjoyed seeing him each year and hearing his stories. He was always kind, and enjoyed seeing us play king of the raft each year.
He will be greatly missed,
