I vividly remember visiting them and their house over a dozen times, maybe. I picture the finished basement with carpet and shiplap walls with the fireplace. Also a record player down there. I remember the kitchen with the big window with the nice porch and view. I remember having to climb up a steep hill to even get to the house. I remember the big black snake that was always lurking around their house, the garage that lead right into a bathroom; going up the carpeted steps to get to some of the other rooms like Deena and Joe's. I also remember them being great with us. They loved seeing us. I still wear Joe's West Virginia coat that he gave me at a real young age. It finally started fitting me in high school haha. I have very fond memories of them and their place. It sticks in my mind like I was just there. Lastly they came to Indiana when we moved multiple times for Christmas. They brought a good amount of gifts for us and I always loved hearing their distinct accents. We never really had a grandma or grandpa, so they kind of filled that void. :) I was very young when a lot of this happened, so it shows they must have had a positive impact on my siblings and I. It's sad they're both gone, but in a better place together again. unfortunately I cant find any photos of all of together currently. :/

Living out of state, I didn't get to visit with Dena as often as I would have liked. I will miss you - Love you sister! You were so wonderful with all the kids. They would get so excited to see you. You made all of them feel so special. I will miss your laugh and smile. And I thank you for teaching me how to make your delicious pasta salad that many of the 11 kids loved. <3

Rest well Dena. I know you struggled in the last few years but I choose to remember a younger Dena. A Dena who pulled me out of the water when I fell under as a toddler. A Dena who took me shopping for school clothes at the 1st mall I ever visited. A Dena who took care of others and always fussed over kids.
