Ed was the emcee, the voice of "Opus 61". An event At St. Albans High School. That was When I became aware of Ed Rabel. I was in that Class of 61. I Often heard Ed when He reported the news throughout his career. Felt Proud that he was a fellow West Virginian. RIP

Ed Rabel was a true journalist in the sense that the truth had to get out, I remember him from the 60s reporting from here in Charleston, a smooth baritone voice, really easy to listen to, and then to CBS and NBC nationally, he was the last journalist to interview Martin Luther King the day before he was gunned down in Memphis. He reported all over the world during those rough times of the 60s and 70s from the assignations thru to the end of the Vietnam War, seems as if he was always on the television set, so rest in peace Mr. Rabel, you always did the best for this state and the nation.

Ed has been a beloved friend for 40 years. Our many summer celebrations together will remain in my heart forever. Great conversations, food and friends were the things he enjoyed the most. His friends here in Northern Virginia will miss him forever.
