JAMES RICHARD (RICHIE) BALLENGEE, JR, 54 of Sissonville lost his short battle with cancer on March 7, 2025 with his family by his side.
Richie was born August 4, 1970 to Jim and Betty Ballengee. He was a 1989 graduate of Sissonville High. He also attended Ben Franklin Technical Center where he earned numerous certifications in welding in which he made his career.
Richie began welding at the age of 16 and continued doing so until September 2024 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was an employee of Mouldagraph Corporation for 25 years. They were his second family, many of his coworkers he considered his brothers. In the past several years he spent his Saturdays helping his aunt and uncle at L&L Used Autos.
Richie was preceded in death by his father James R Ballengee, Sr, his paternal grandparents Byron and Naomi Ballengee, and his maternal grandparents Bill and Imal Garnett all of Charleston.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James and Mikayla Ballengee of Kenna, granddaughters Oaklynn and Emery Ballengee of Kenna, mother, in whom he lived with, Betty Ballengee of Sissonville, sister and brother-in-law Tara and Travis Fisher, nephews Austin and Michael Fisher all of Sissonville.
The family would like to thank CAMC Cancer Center and CAMC Hospice Care for their compassion and care in these last few months. Special thanks to Nurse Heather Thaxton at the cancer center in which we could not have navigated through this journey without her guidance and assistance. Elizabeth Poe and Rudy Moulder at Mouldagraph Corporation, you both do not know what all you did meant to him.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching football, he even had his mom watching with him. He loved going to the Sissonville High games with his cousin and reminiscing of how they played back in the day and commentating every play and penalty. During his sickness he looked forward to he and his sisters Bob Evans breakfast after doctor appointments. Richie didn't see a puppy or dog he didn't love. But the real love of his life was his son James and those two beautiful granddaughters. He was a proud Pawpaw.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
