Janet Cummings Obituary
JANET SUE COPEN CUMMINGS, 86, of Big Chimney went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 2, 2025, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV.
Janet lived a life filled with kindness, faith, and simple joys. She loved spending quiet moments reading her Bible and crocheting, often while sitting peacefully on her front porch with her beloved puppy, Missy by her side. Janet enjoyed going for drives, especially if she had her iced coffee and a mini-Heath Blizzard to take along with her. She was an avid football fan, but nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. Known for her caring heart, Janet was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, leaving a lasting example of love and generosity to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Sam and Martha Bea Copen, three sisters, and two brothers.
Janet leaves behind, her son, Douglas (Sherry) Cummings; granddaughter, Stephanie (Michael) King; grandson, Douglas (Mary) Cummings Jr; grandson, Tyler Jett; sister, Pat Carnell; five great grandchildren: Emily (Ryan) Smith, Kayley King, Sandler Cummings, Simon Cummings, Sebastian Cummings; one great great granddaughter, Ivy Smith; nieces and nephews; along with very special friends Cyndi Tawney and Sondra Southern.
A funeral service will be at 12 p.m., on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Ledsome officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park in Big Chimney.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Hafer Funeral Home.
