JoAnn Walls Obituary
JoANN MEEKS WALLS, 89, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Nitro, died peacefully at home on May 21, 2025.
JoAnn is survived by her loving daughter Patricia "Patsy" Boycan (Phil); her brother Guy Meeks; many nieces and nephews; and, her loyal little friend, Joey Walls. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. "Barney" Walls; parents Herbert and Blanche Meeks; brothers Eugene Meeks (Emma Jean) and Harley Meeks (Phyllis); sisters Dare McClintock (Ivan), Molly Brown (William), Eunice Null (Ralph), Katherine "Katie" Muck (William), and Betty McGrew (Fred).
JoAnn graduated from Poca High School and, with Barney, owned Walls Motor Sales in Nitro for many years. After moving to Florida in 1970, they built two mobile home parks and also invested in real estate. JoAnn was an outstanding golfer who was Club Champion and scored five holes in one! She and Barney traveled with friends all around the world, and they especially enjoyed cruising. JoAnn was very loved and is missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, followed by interment at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens.
