Kimberly Coleman Obituary

KIMBERLY KAY "KIM" COLEMAN, 68, of Elk Hills, WV departed this life peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of Sunday, October 13, 2024. She has been set free from her earthly battle with COPD.
She was born March 26, 1956, at McMillan Hospital. She was a 1974 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and entered the workforce as a Unit Clerk at CAMC. She later transferred to the EKG department, where she would spend her entire career, advancing to the Director of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Services. There she would make numerous lifelong friendships including Patsy Brown and Jamie Doughty. She retired in 2014 with 40 years of dedicated service to CAMC, with many of her co-workers calling her both a great friend and "the best boss I've ever had". She spent time after retiring visiting her favorite beach, North Topsail Island, NC, watching her grandchildren, and caring for her sisters as their health declined. Family was paramount in her life; her children and especially her grandchildren brought her so much joy. Many have noted her care and compassion, she celebrated the smallest of moments, taking every opportunity to provide cards and gifts to all the children in her life.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Ralph and Mable Mae Nelson, brother Rodney Nelson, sisters Arvilla "Jo" Hale and Diana "Gail" Garnett, brother-in-law Bill Hale, several aunts and uncles, co-worker and long-time friend Suzanne Hodges-Bond, and several dogs with whom she shared a special bond.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years John T. "Jody" Coleman, son Jonathan (Suzy) Coleman, daughter Rachael Wheeler, grandchildren Carter Wheeler, Aiden Rainey, Reese Rainey, and Lakyn Kay, brother Nick Nelson, brother-in-law Edward Garnett, sister-in-law Beverly Nelson, several nieces and nephews (most of which were more like sisters and brothers), lifelong best friend, neighbor, and Saint on Earth Cindy Moore, and her faithful dog Lucy, who stayed by her side until the end.
A service to honor Kim's life, led by Chaplin Philip Shaffer, will be held at Hafer Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 6 p.m. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests you consider donating, in Kim's memory, to one of two charities that were near and dear to her heart: The American Cancer Society or the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association.
Online condolences may be sent to haferfuneralhome.net.
Arrangements are in the care of Hafer Funeral Home, 50 North Pinch Road, Elkview.

It has already been said that Kim was a great manager and friend. I worked with her several years ago and it was a pleasure.
