Phyllis Jean Hunt Ross

PHYLLIS JEAN HUNT ROSS, 92, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Brookdale Salem in Virginia, after a few years of Dementia and declining health.
Phyllis was born in Clendenin on August 20, 1932, the only child of the late Herbert and Maysel Huffman Hunt.
Phyllis grew up on the west end of Charleston, graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School with the class of 1950. She attended business school in Charleston, then graduated from Glenville State College in 1981.
Phyllis married the late Robert Ross in 1957, who preceded her in death in 2003. She and Bob moved to Pineville where Bob worked for Hope Gas. The family later moved to Weston where they spent the next 36 years. After her girls were in school, Phyllis went to work for JC Penney of Weston, then worked as a bookkeeper for Hunter Bennett, Jr., and finally spent about 20 years with the WV Department of Health and Human Services retiring as a social worker for the state. After retirement, Phyllis and Bob moved to the Roanoke, VA area in 2001.
Forever cherishing their memories of Phyllis are two daughters: Diane Ross of Charlotte, NC, and Robin Ross of Henrico, VA; one grandson, Samuel Johnson.
Phyllis' request for Cremation has been honored. A Graveside Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 2397 US Hwy 19N in Jane Lew at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, with Pastor Wease Day officiating. Inurnment will follow.
