Shelia McGhee Obituary
SHELIA KAREN McGHEE, 73, of St. Albans, WV, departed this life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after a six-month battle with heart disease.
Shelia was born in South Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late, Robert William McGhee, Jr., and Mary Norma (Davis) McGhee. She graduated from George Washington High School and worked for various Charleston businesses, most recently spending 25 years at Valley West Veterinary Hospital with colleagues she considered her family.
Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Richard (Rick) Allen Wehrle and Christopher James Wehrle, of St. Albans and her grandchildren, Eric Tyler Wehrle, Richard Allen Wehrle, Jr. (R.J.), Skyler Wehrle, all of St. Albans and Alex Wehrle of Cross Lanes. Shelia loved being a grandmother and was a staunch advocate for her grandchildren. They will miss her tremendously.
Also, left to cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters, Melinda Royer (LeRoy) and Kevin McGhee (Gerri) of St. Albans, Teresa Burgess (Norman) and Calvin Douglas McGhee (Robin) of South Charleston, Marsha Marler (LeGrande) of Tobaccoville, NC, and Lydia Beirne (Tom) of Clendenin, many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Goldie of Florida and Pat of South Charleston, who also loved Shelia.
She was predeceased by her friend and at one time, significant other, Larry "Earl" Jeffery, her parents, as mentioned above, her sister, Sylvia Jean Brogan Plummer, and her brothers, Paul, Bobby, and Gary McGhee.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Valley West Veterinary Hospital, its owners, and employees, who have gone above and beyond in their love and care for Shelia in the last six months, where it has been evident that they all loved her as their family.
You are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Green Valley Church of God, St. Albans, WV, at 2 p.m.
Shelia loved all fur-babies, thus in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association.
Cooke Funeral Home and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
