Violet Farmer

1927 - 2023

VIOLET G. COOPER FARMER, 95, of Marmet died July 15, 2023 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
She was a retired school teacher and counselor from Sherman High School, Seth with over 37 years of service. She received her BS degree from Morris Harvey College and her masters +50 hours from Marshall University.
She was a member of Kanawha City Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Boone County Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and was a member of Whitesville Rebekah Lodge where she was a past noble grand matron.
She was also a member of WV and Boone County association of retired school employees.
She was preceded in death by husband: Camillus A. "Cam" Farmer, parents: Hillard and Ida Thomas Cooper, sisters: Grace Ethel Hill and Barbara Cooper, brothers in law: Arthur Hill, Kermit Oxley, and Clarence Mason, grandmother: Tilda Javins and nephews: Ricky Mason and Darl Oxley.
Surviving are sister: Eva Mason; Great nephew and niece: Mark Oxley and Melissa (Brian) Mangus; Great Great nephews and nieces: Captain Jacob (Victoria) Mangus and their son Hudson; Catherine (Stg. Rodney) Estep and their children Isabella and Benjamin; Sarah Mangus; Ashley Oxley; Mark Oxley II; Anna Mangus; Emma Mangus; Nathan Mangus; and Matthew Oxley.
As well as caregivers, Dr. Dan and Linda Taylor and close family friend Karen Oxley.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday July 18, 2023 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Minister Mike Tincher officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call 1hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
