Theresa Wielga

On September 24, 2025, Theresa E. Wielga passed away peacefully at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. Theresa was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Nicholas and Bernice Zawila. She was a graduate of Marymount High School, and moved to Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary for the Department of Commerce, and later as a procurement specialist for the Internal Revenue Service. She'll be remembered most for her zest for life and positive nature that touched everyone she met, as well as her love for her family and friends and Washington Sports teams.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Wielga; her brothers Teddy and Joseph Zawila; and her sister Irene Papka. She is survived by her daughters Julianne Wielga (and Duane Dolbow) of Fairfax City; Marcia Slakie of Fairfax; her granddaughters Marley and Madelyn Slakie; her sister, Frances Malin of Falls Church, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 10:30 am at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bailey's Crossroads Host Lions Club, P.O. Box 1082, Bailey's Crossroads, VA 22041.
