Charles Allen Obituary
Born on May 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Ray and Mattie Allen. Charles attended Welch Junior High and Welch High School before beginning a long and dedicated 40-year career in the coal mines. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mattie Allen, and his sister, Jennifer Allen. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Lana Coleman Allen; his son, Charles Allen Jr., and wife Michelle Allen; his granddaughters, Ashleigh Allen, Hannah Allen-Howard and husband, Samuel Howard, and Autumn Allen; and his great-grandchildren, Talaiah and Toryn. He is also survived by his brother, Jeffery Allen and wife Christine Allen, and his sister, Sandra Sizemore and husband Gary Sizemore.
A Celebration of Life honoring Charles McKinley "Big Charlie" Allen Sr. will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Karen Preservati Center, located at 704 Maple Street, Princeton, West Virginia 24740. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a man whose love, laughter, and kindness touched every life he encountered.

Charlie was sweet and a good man - we both were sad to hear about his passing - we both knew Charlie from working with him at U.S. Steel Mines (lots of memories). Our prayers are with the family. I worked with Charlie for approximately 10 years along with his brother Jeff and his son Little Charlie big Charlie was one of the best minor operators I have ever seen. He could really spit that cow out and was a good friend and I pray for his family, his brother, his wife and his son prayers for all your friend Kenny Torres
