Charles Hubert McClaugherty

NARROWS, VA – Charles "Hubert" McClaugherty, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Heritage Hall in Rich Creek, VA. Born in Bozoo, WV, he was the son of the late Charlie Hale McClaugherty and Daisy Dunn McClaugherty. After graduating from Narrows High School, Hubert joined the U. S. Air Force and served as a radio operator on a B29 bomber. After the Air Force, he worked at Celanese Corporation for 19 years then started a TV repair business in Rich Creek, VA. With a partner, he eventually purchased and operated the Twin State Furniture and Appliance Company in Peterstown, WV. He later began working for Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company in Pearisburg, VA, and retired in 1991. He was a very religious person and spent much of his time researching and exploring the Bible. He also enjoyed camping and especially loved hiking the Appalachian Trail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Pearilee Brown McClaugherty; his brother, Roy McClaugherty; and his sister, Wanda Vest. Hubert is survived by his three children, Steve McClaugherty (Cathy), Hilda Haga (Jerry), and Robert McClaugherty (Donna); five grandchildren, Aarin Haga, Andrew Haga, Brandon McClaugherty (Heather), Christopher McClaugherty (Nia), and Patrick McClaugherty (Amanda); he was also blessed with six great grandchildren, Braxton, Zoey, Charlotte, Josie, Lucie, and Shawn. The family extends a special thank you to Heritage Hall for their love and care over the past four years, especially Side 3. Graveside service with military rites will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA, with Pastor Paul Broyles officiating.
