Howard Keesee Obituary

CERES, VA Howard Thomas "Tom" Keesee, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Tom was born on September 21, 1952, to the late Harley and Lois Carter Keesee. As a teenager, he shared his love for music by forming a band, The Unfinished Dream, which went on to win several local talent shows. He later answered the call to serve his country, proudly joining the U.S. Navy. Tom devoted much of his life to education, teaching at Wytheville Community College, Blue Ridge Job Corps, and the Washington County Skill Center, where he inspired and guided countless students. Known for his outgoing and infectious spirit, Tom never met a stranger and carried a warmth that drew people in. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and time on the golf course. Above all, Tom found his greatest joy on the open road, riding his beloved Harley. He is survived by his brother Rick Keesee; sister Judy Atkins & husband Bob; nephews David Atkins & wife Brandi and Jim Atkins & wife April; niece Michelle Ploch & husband Johnny; great nephew William; great nieces Lucie and Lilly; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special friend Bootsie Waring. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, September 28, 2025, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Pastor Neal Hammons and George Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Ridgedale UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM, on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to any veteran's organization of your choice in memory of Tom. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home of Marion is serving the Keesee Family.

We are so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was such a good friend to my dad, Roger “Peanut” Frye. We always enjoyed it when Tom would join Dad to tailgate and cheer on the Hokies.

Tom and I worked together for several years at Job Corp. We were also golfing buddies and played hundreds of rounds together for over twenty years. Tom was the greatest pal to be around if you wanted to laugh and have fun. He will be greatly missed by a lot of people. RIP my friend!

Tom will be a big loss to his family and friends! I taught with Tom in Washington Co Adult Education! My husband Roy (Steve) was in one of his classes. He was smart, kind and so funny! I’m so sorry for your loss. Prayers for comfort!

Ricky, Judy and family,
My heart is with you all. I wish this was just a bad dream. I'm so very sad. He will always be the love of my life. We shared so many good times and made great memories together and I was lucky to still have him in my life. My heartfelt condolences to you all. Sending you all my love and prayers on the wind.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom....."Tommy," as I remember him when, as a child has passed away. I would go with Mom to your home in Ceres. From there, we went to square dances at what I guess was a community center. So much fun and great memories. Mom (Jean Trail) and your mom worked together at SWVMHI. I hung around with Judy, but thought Tommy (older) was so cute. Those were the good ole' days. My prayers are with each of you.
