Phillip Rodney Slone

Phillip Rodney Slone, age 64, of Inman, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1960, in Wabash, IN, to David Slone and Ginger White Mustard. Phillip was a 1980 graduate of Richlands High School, where he was an athlete in most sports. He excelled as a tailback in football. After high school, he joined the Army, was an insurance agent before doing the job he liked the most, a truck driver for 30 years. Preceded in death by His mother, Ginger White Mustard, and father, the man who raised him, Larry J. Lowe, and his stepdad, Edwin Mustard, and Gary Whited. His two sons, Scott Slone & Derek Slone. His maternal grandparents, the late Perry & Willie O. White of Jewell Ridge, VA, and Paternal Grandparents, the late Fred and Martha Slone of Hindman, KY, Carlee Lowe of Tuscaloosa, AL Those left to cherish his memory are: His loving wife of 27 years, Bonnie J. Slone of Inman, SC Daughters: Kristin McMillian (Randy) of Mt. Airy, NC Tonya Lawson (Vitek Kloc), Richmond, VA Sons: BJ Lawson (Heather) Abingdon, VA Justin Slone of Lebanon, VA Zack Slone of Johnson City, TN Brothers: Larry Douglas Lowe, Tazewell, VA Todd Slone (Jennifer) Owensboro, KY Sisters: Angie Horton (Allen), Ashland, KY Sheila Monhanan (Geoff) Round O, SC Nancy Stevens (Shane) Tazewell, VA Melinda Messer Tazewell, VA Jennifer Bye and her husband, Dean, of New Orleans, LA Grandsons: Connor McMillian, Mt. Airy, NC; Isaac Lawson, PA. Granddaughters: Emery McMillian, Mt. Airy, NC; Olivia Kloc, Richmond, VA, Aubrey Lawson, Abingdon, VA. The funeral service for Phillip Slone will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Pastor Rick Morrell officiating. Aaron McGlothlin will deliver the eulogy. Entombment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be: Danny Beavers, Gene Helton, Mike Wade, Jim Tatum, Timbo Dye, Lloyd Harding, and BJ Lawson. The visitation will be from 11 AM on Tuesday until the time of the service.
