Ralph Holmes Obituary
With the most profound regret and sorrow, the family of Ralph Edward Holmes announces his passing on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at a local Tazewell hospital.
Ralph was born in Tannersville, Virginia, on March 7, 1940, and had resided in the County all of his 85 years in the surrounding area. He was the son of the late George Edward Holmes and Virginia Taylor Holmes. He was well known for picking at you and smiling because he could get a reaction from you. Ralph adored children and loved to make them smile. He had a passion for tinkering with cars and tractors, and most machinery. Mr. Sprakers offered him a job at the NAPA Auto Store in Tazewell, and he was in heaven working with auto parts. He so loved his job that many years later, he and his brother purchased the store, and after 43 years, he finally retired. He was once a NASCAR fan until Dale Earnhardt was killed, and he was such a dedicated fan that he would no longer watch the races. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and going to the flea markets and livestock markets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Hall, and his brothers Marvin Holmes and Andrew Starritt Holmes.
