Sam Martin Obituary

Sam Henry Martin, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 77 in Pembroke, VA. Born on January 4, 1948, in Martinsville, VA, Sam's life was characterized by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his love for simple pleasures.

Sam grew up in the warmth of a close-knit family and was the beloved son of the late Joe Sam Hairston and Virginia Martin. Their values and love shaped him into the man he became. Sam's sister, Brenda Hairston, has always been a significant part of his life, and he was a cherished brother. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his nephews, Steven and Derek Hairston.

After graduating from high school, Sam answered the call to serve his nation and joined the United States Air Force. Following his honorable service, Sam continued to contribute to his community through his work in maintenance at the VA Hospital in Salem, VA. Sam's life was not only defined by his work and service but also by the simple joys he found in everyday activities. He had a passion for working puzzles on his phone. At home, he found solace and happiness, whether it was in the quietude of his own space or in the company of his family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Tephanie Williams officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the US Air Force and American Legion Post 58. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Martin family.
