Sherman Arthur Osborne

Sherman Arthur Osborne, age 91, of Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home. Sherman was born on July 27, 1934, in Buchanan County, Virginia. and was the son of the late Thomas Osborne and Rosie Webb Osborne. He previously worked as a coal miner, and for the last 50 years, he worked at Tazewell Farm Bureau. Sherman was very well known for his kindness and compassion. He loved to eat out, and especially spending time with his family, whom he adored. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and grandsons. Sherman loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Open Door Church, Baptist Valley, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Akers Osborne; son, Bobby Joe Osborne; Sisters, Opal Reedy, Carmie Elswick, Juanita Mosley, and Francis Hall; Brothers, Jess Osborne, Estel Osborne, Perry Osborne, and Harold Osborne; Stepsons, Jerry Mutter, Steven Mutter, and Michael Mutter. He is survived by: His Loving wife: Ella Faye Edmonds Mutter Osborne of Tazewell, VA. Daughter, Brenda Howery of Baptist Valley, VA. Son: Roger (Terri) Osborne, of Bluefield, VA. Stepson, Charles Mutter Jr. of Bluefield, WV Siblings: Sue Clifton, Clifton Fork, Va., Diane Smith of FL., Willis (Harold) Musick of Mavisdale, VA., Alafair Dusseau of Abingdon, Va., Mac (Lois) Osborne of Osborne Mountain, VA., Alvin (Jackie) Osborne of NC, Tommy (Lois) Osborne of Glade Springs, VA. Grandchildren: Cheyenne Osborne, Issiah Mutter, Charles Mutter Grandchildren of the Heart: Tyler Stinson, Crissy Stinson, Brandon Stinson, Davin Stinson, Daylon Stinson, Brooke Stinson Several step-grandchildren also survive. Along with a host family & friend Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia, with the Rev. Michael Walker and John Muncy officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview, in Bluefield, Virginia. Visitation for Sherman Arthur Osborne will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia.
