Verona Josephine Dye

Verona Josephine Dye, 83, of Bluefield passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born January 27, 1942 in Elkhorn, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Allen Dye, Sr. and Virginia Finney-Dye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dye; daughter-in-law, Jaylin Hewitt Dye; and sons-in-law, Lynford Davis and Granville Clarke; five brothers, James Allen Dye, Jr., Robert Dye, Ed Dye, William Dye and Donald Dye; and three sisters, Elaine Henderson, Helen Brown, and Dorothy Jamison. Verona was a graduate of Genoa Park Central High School in Bluefield, WV. After graduating she moved to Ossining, NY where she worked as a CNA at the Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY until retirement. In Ossining she attended of Star Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as an usher and worked with the food ministry. Verona moved back to the area in 2001 and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and served as an usher. She is survived by four children, Lee Dye of Houston, TX, Veronica Foreman-Davis of Ossining, NY, Helen Clarke of Bluefield, WV, and Joseph Foreman of Waterbury, CT; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jackie Dye of Washington D.C.; sister-in-law, Aither Dye; two God-daughters, Hope Patterson and Nicole Dabbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In honoring her wishes, Verona will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
