William David Obituary

William Wiley David Sr., known affectionately as Bill, was called to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 5, 1936, in Princeton, West Virginia, Bill was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. His final days were spent surrounded by the love of his family in Pembroke, Virginia. Bill's life was a testament to his strong Christian faith and the values he held dear. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nancy McGuire David, a loving father to his children, Billy David and Stephanie Mitchener, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to a lineage that will carry on his legacy. With Nancy by his side, Bill created a family foundation rooted in love and faith. His son, Billy (Jackie), blessed him with grandchildren Trey (Lauren) and their children, Alexis David and Liam David; Cole (Kristen) and their children, Henry David and Aurora David; Kelsey Lucas (Casey) and their daughter, Maisyn Lucas; and Kenzie Perkins (Cameron) and their children, Emmitt Perkins, Griffin Perkins, and Watson Perkins. His daughter, Stephanie, and her husband, Mike, expanded this circle of joy with their children: Mitch (Liz) and their children, Malachi Mitchener and Ezra Mitchener; Mac (Jordan) and their children, Wyatt Mitchener and Addie Mitchener; and Josiah(Rachel). His grandchildren were the great joy of his life, and each was the apple of his eye. Bill's life was marked by a deep sense of community and service. He worked in production at Celanese, where his dedication to his work was evident. His passion for electronics led him to run a television repair service in his home, serving neighbors and friends with skill and a smile. Bill's commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his many years of volunteer work with the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department. A man of diverse interests, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of car racing, and his enthusiasm for Richard Petty knew no bounds. As the Blue Hornet; over CB radio waves, he connected with people from all walks of life, sharing conversations and laughter. Fishing, trains, and birdwatching were among his favorite hobbies, but nothing compared to the time spent with his family. Bill especially treasured moments with his grandchildren, creating memories that they will cherish forever. Bill's faith ministry was extended and shown in a gift of prayer he held every day for his family, friends, and neighbors, which was humbling to all who knew about this sweet ministry. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas David and Emma Richardson David, and his siblings, Eddie, Arnold, Herbert, and Jane David. He leaves behind not only his immediate family but also his in-laws, Nola McGuire and Ted and Martha O'Brien, a host of nieces and nephews, and a special family member, Terry David, the mother of Billy's children. Each one of them felt the warmth of his love and the strength of his character. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Hospice Care Team, Stephanie Cable, and Marsha Merritt, and a special thank you to Frances Mullins for her help and kindness. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Friday, September 26,2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Mitchener officiating. Funeral services will conclude in Birchlawn Burial Park where he will be laid to rest. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home is honored to serve the David family.
