XENIA — Howard R. Jordan, 88, of Xenia, husband of the late Shirley Jordan, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at Greene Memorial Hospital. Howard was born on September 18, 1930 in Louisa, KY. to the late Robert and Mae Vaughn Jordan. Howard proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He graduated from Morehead State College. Howard was a retired educator and principal, working for Beavercreek Schools for many years. He was a founding father and charter member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, Xenia which started in 1960. Howard served the church faithfully in many ways to include, deacon, part-time staff member, worship leader and Sunday School Teacher. Howard is survived by his son, Brian Borchers of Xenia; sisters, Betty Allen of Meade's Branch, KY. and Nancy Bryant of Louisa, KY; brother, Ronnie Jordan of Martin County, KY. In addition to his loving wife, Howard was preceded in death by his children, Libby Kay Jordan and Timothy Lee Jordan; brothers, Richard Jordan, Dan Jordan and Tom Jordan. Howard loved his Savior Jesus in many selfless ways and touched the lives of many hurting people in his community. A celebration of Howard's life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Young officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30AM until the time of service Friday at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia.
