XENIA — Janet Alberta Hargrave, departed this life after a brief time of illness at Hospice of Dayton on April 27, 2015. Janet was born November 11, 1944, the fifth child and second daughter of daughter of Helen Elizabeth Hargrave and Benson D. Hargrave. Janet graduated from Xenia City Schools where she performed in the Drama Department productions. After high school she was consistently employed for over 35 years thru the Albers/Kroger Co., City loan, and Revco as a Pharmacy Technician. Janet was baptized and saved at age 16 under the late pastor Rev. Joel Lee Allen of the Church of God E. 2nd St. Xenia. From the day of her salvation until her life's end she loved and served Jesus with passion and boldness. Janet loved singing, prayer and exhortation of the scriptures. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Helen E. and Benson D. Hargrave; four brothers James F., Benson E., Herschell H., John D. Sr. Hargrave and 2 sisters Linda S. Hargrave and Priscilla V. Simpson. She is remembered by one brother: Edward L. Hargrave (Louise) and 3 sisters: Lela J. Hargrave, Marva D. Hargrave, and Gayenelle L. Sloan (Kevin), also a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, saints and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday May 1, 2015 at the McColaugh Funeral Home Inc. 826 N. Detroit St. Xenia, Ohio 45385 with Bishop Gideon Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM until the time of service Friday May 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
