John Lee Phillips Sr

Born: February 21, 1943 | Died: March 25, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Lee Phillips, Sr on March 25, 2025 at the age of 82.

He was born in Yadkinville, NC on February 21, 1943, he is the son of the late Andrew Clingman Phillips and Opal Atkins Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Gail Ashburn and brother in law Harold Ashburn.

He is survived by his wife Millie Phillips and his companion dog Huck of 15 years, his children Dawn Marie Phillips and John Lee Phillips, Jr both of Macon, Georgia. Niece Jill Ashburn and nephew Hal Ashburn of Yadkinville, NC, also his very special cousins Christine (Curt) Moody, Angelia Phillips Wiles , Bobby (Linda) Phillips, Patsy Phillips Stone, Jimmy Phillips, Jerry Phillips, and Peggy Phillips of Yadkinville NC.

He was a 9 year veteran of the United States Air Force were he won several awards, got the highest re-enlistment bonus ever given at that time, finished his service at rank E7 Tech Sergeant.

He was very computer savvy, and loved building things.

He made guitars that have been played on the Grand Ole Opry by Mike Morgan and David Ball.
