It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bobby Julian "Butch" McDaniel, who departed this life on November 2, 2025, at the age of 70. Butch was born on January 15, 1955, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and spent his life exemplifying the virtues of kindness, compassion, and unwavering support. His life journey, marked by love and dedication, will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Butch was the beloved son of Bobby Julian, Sr. and Betty Jane McDaniel. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sisters, Janet Alewine Alderman (Kirby) of Rock Hill, SC, and Sandra Jean Hodges (Ken) of Newton, NC, as well as his brother, Darryl Glenn McDaniel (Kimberly) of Fort Mill, SC. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom adored him for his gentle spirit and loving nature.
For over 40 years, Butch faithfully served as an electrician at Duke Power Oconee Nuclear Station, where his expertise and dedication were highly valued. After a long and fulfilling career, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Butch was deeply committed to his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter at CKC Volunteer Fire Department in Kings Creek, SC, embodying the spirit of selflessness and bravery. Additionally, he was an active member of Broad River Baptist Church in Smyrna, SC, where he found camaraderie and purpose among his fellow congregants.
Butch was a remarkable individual known for his kind and patient soul, who kept his family connected with quiet strength and love. In every way, he was the best there was-a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel remembered and cared for, consistently checking in on loved ones and offering his unwavering support. Intelligent and endlessly resourceful, Butch could fix or figure out anything, and he was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. His reliability and generosity with his time and care made him a pillar of strength for his family and friends.
Butch approached life with a calm, logical perspective, helping those around him see clearly even in the toughest moments. His steady guidance and unwavering support, often delivered with gentle humor, provided solace to many. He had a special gift for finding the perfect funny birthday card, making each celebration brighter. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Butch's life at his funeral service, which will be held on November 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Broad River Baptist Church, located at 2315 Legion Rd, Smyrna, SC 29743. Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, allowing for a time of remembrance and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broad River Baptist Church, a testament to Butch's dedication to his faith and community.
