David Johnson Obituary
Rock Hill, SC – David "Trey" Johnson, 31, passed away on July 20, 2025, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Born on May 9, 1994, in Gastonia, NC, Trey later moved to Rock Hill, where he made lasting memories and friendships.
A proud graduate of York Comprehensive High School and the Universal Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC, he was employed with E2 Mechanical & Industrial Refrigeration in Charlotte. He was known for his ability to connect with everyone he met; he never met a stranger.
Trey loved his beautiful daughters and loved spending time with them, he was a devoted father to his daughters, Kora Lynn (4) and Lilian Grace (11). He cherished every moment spent with them, whether riding four-wheelers, go-karting, or enjoying dirt bikes and mud holes. He loved taking his 1994 Chevrolet OBS Truck to North Carolina to an Auto Cross Track. Trey built this truck from font to back and was forever working on it make it look and sound the best. Trey loved to sit around a bonfire with his family and friends and listen to music and just talk about the past. He loved camping and kayaking down the river with his family and friends. He was a huge kid at heart and always loved playing with his children especially on the waterslides that he would rent for their Birthdays. His greatest joy in life other than his daughters was fishing. He loved to go to a small pond and try to catch the biggest bass. It didn't matter if he sat there all day and didn't catch anything, it was just the joy of being on the pond with a fishing pole. Trey had life-long friends that became his brothers and there were always there for each other. Trey loved life and everything about it.
Trey's life was enriched by lifelong friendships that felt more like a brotherhood. He believed in the importance of these connections and would want everyone to cherish the good times, laughter, and memories made together. He urged his friends to look after one another and to keep his daughters safe, ensuring that his memory lives on in their hearts.
Trey is survived by his loving wife, Chaslyne; daughters, Kora Lynn and Lilian Grace; his maternal grandmother BJ Smith (Steve); father Jeff Rockholt; paternal grandmother Joyce Rockholt; uncle Timothy Lingerfelt; cousin Eric Brigman (Kaylynn); as well as nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who were like family.
